With a view to weigh new projects and agreements that will allow Peru to max out efforts and get the most of its travel industry, the Andean nation is taking solid steps as far as promotion and advertisement are concerned.

As part of those efforts, Peru´s National Tourism Chamber (CANATUR) announced the country will be home to this year´s Latin Travel Mart with a much-anticipated turnout of 1,200 travel agencies from around the world.

Michael Tenzer will take over June 1 as spokesman and delegate of Airtours International, a company owned by TUI, the German tour operator specialized in Premium and tailor-made trips. Mr. Tenzer is replacing Fred Lod Tig, 64, who’s retiring after twelve years at the helm of the group.

E-tickets, a system that’s been increasingly catching on among the world’s major airlines, provide hassle-free travel as they cut down on paperwork and eliminate the nuisance of lost plane tickets.

The new process, currently in use by Copa’s U.S. partner carrier Continental Airlines, allows passengers to carry just one e-ticket during the whole flight, weekly newspaper Choices published today.

Barcelona will be connected via direct flight with a still undisclosed Mexican city before the end of the ongoing year, announced Pere Esteve, an advisor on trade, tourism and consumption for the Catalonia Generalitat.

Mr. Esteve explained the decision to create this new air bridge is in the interest of both the Catalonian and Mexican authorities in an effort to improve communication and economic prospects between this country and the Spanish region.
