Panamanian Airline Introduces E-tickets in Cuba

Panama’s Copa Airlines has become the first carrier ever in Cuba to offer electronic plane tickets to passengers flying to more than thirty destinations.

E-tickets, a system that’s been increasingly catching on among the world’s major airlines, provide hassle-free travel as they cut down on paperwork and eliminate the nuisance of lost plane tickets.

The new process, currently in use by Copa’s U.S. partner carrier Continental Airlines, allows passengers to carry just one e-ticket during the whole flight, weekly newspaper Choices published today.

Copa’s General Manager Reynaldo De Sedas explained e-tickets are available in all of the company’s sale outlets in the Cuban capital and can also be ordered by phone. Customers will get a receipt, together with a timetable and flight schedule. Sale of e-tickets is also available online and by fax.

Mr. Sedas indicated the new system has been implemented in Havana without any drawbacks whatsoever, given the willingness and professionalism of Cuban employees at the local Copa Office and the help of experts from the air carrier.

In Mr. Seda’s opinion, Havana goes on to be a major destination for Copa Airlines both in terms of business travel and tourism, let alone the countless ties that Cubans keep with a considerable number of nations elsewhere.
