Americans are dusting off their passports and seeing the world in big numbers. In the first two months of 2012, 8.1 million U.S. citizens traveled abroad, a 6 percent increase over the same period in 2011, according to data released Wednesday by the U.S. Office of Travel & Tourism Industries.

A British tourist has fallen to her death from a hotel balcony in Mallorca in the third such British death on the Spanish island in less than a month. Charlotte Faris, 23, fell during the early hours of Saturday morning in the popular party resort of Magaluf, authorities said. A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed the death. "We are aware and can confirm the death of British national Charlotte Faris in Mallorca on May 5. We are providing consular assistance to her family."
