Within the framework of an agreement between the city of Buenos Aires’s Tourism Undersecretary’s Office and the Department of Trade and Industry, small and midsize companies will start getting state-run subsidies in the near future. Each business is entitled to a $50,000 grant per plan, plus $75,000 premiums in terms of corporate complementation for temporary mergers of companies and partnerships.
Spain-based Iberia Airlines announced its decision to stop flying to Honduras in the face of increasingly higher airport taxes and amid failure to reach an agreement with the Honduran government. The announcement was made by Arnoldo Zablah, president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Central American country. Iberia’s last flight to Honduras will land in San Pedro Sula next Sept. 28. On that same day, the Spanish company will move its operations to neighboring Costa Rica.
The Nicaraguan location of San Juan del Sur –some 80 miles from Managua- now has its own tourism trademark. Under a slogan reading Bays of Sunsets and Adventure, local authorities expect to bring a larger inflow of tourists to the region.
The beautiful Nicaraguan bay and its nearby beaches receive hundreds of cruises and scores of sunbathers every year. The logo features colors and symbols that illustrate the location’s sun-and-sand spots, breathtaking sunsets and emotion-packed adventures.
Peruvian airline Nuevo Continente –formerly known as Aerocontinente- resumed operations Friday following a ten-day suspension. The renamed carrier will get back up in the air with a ten-flight, 500-passenger schedule.
Nuevo Continente President Miguel Halabi explained the number of flights will be steadily on the rise until it completes the 4,000 passengers a day the company was flying before the Peruvian government mothballed it last July 12.
