Vienna-based O Property Collection (OPC) has launched a $1 billion hotel and villa project in the Turks and Caicos July 12, a project that is being described as “the largest development in the hemisphere” by some.
In the Turks and Caicos, OPC´s flagship project will be developing Dellis Cay, a private island in the chain.
Starwood Vacation Ownership, a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, has announced major expansion plans for the Westin St. John Resort & Villas in St. John, USVI.
The new Bay Vista phase will include a total of 94 two- and three-bedroom villas overlooking the island and the picturesque Great Cruz Bay.
InterContinental Hotels Group PLC is to announce the sale of seven hotels in continental Europe to Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund for about $740 million, according to The Times of London.
The best-known of the seven InterContinental-branded hotels that Morgan Stanley is acquiring is the Carlton in Cannes, on the French Riviera. The others are in Amsterdam, Budapest, Rome, Frankfurt, Madrid and Vienna, the newspaper said.
Hilton Hotels plans to open its first Conrad-branded luxury hotel in Shanghai in 2008, and build a total of fifty in different brands in China, according to the China Daily.
Hilton´s high-level managers also released that Hilton had ranked the fifth among its worldwide counterparts after the integration of Hilton brand.

Hilton Hotels Corp. plans to double the number of its hotels under management in China in the next several years, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The international hotel company, which now manages five hotels in China, plans to open the Hilton Hefei in eastern China´s Anhui province by the end of 2006.
