AirTran Airways has begun daily nonstop flights from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Ga., to Cancun Airport International in Cancun, Mexico. One-way fares are $89 off peak and $99 peak. All fares are non-refundable and a $75 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase, plus any applicable increase in airfare.
Caribbean regional airline LIAT will operate three flights per week from Barbados to Canouan, The Grenadines beginning Friday. LIAT flight 787 will leave Barbados at 5:20 p.m. every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Canouan at 6 p.m. LIAT flight 760 will then leave Canouan at 11:00 a.m. every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday arriving in Barbados at 11:40 a.m.
Delta Air Lines has a new nonstop daily service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, starting June 20, 2009. The new flights are the first Delta service to Haiti since the 1950s when Delta flew from New Orleans to Port-au-Prince.
American Airlines is putting nearly all its international destinations on sale for travel now through mid-May. It is offering these low fares for travel from the United States (excluding Alaska) to its vast network of international destinations, including spots throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, Latin America, Asia and Europe.
USA3000 Airlines will resume twice-weekly flights between Baltimore and Bermuda from June 11 to Aug. 16. “We recognized a very real interest in the Baltimore-Bermuda flight from our passengers,” said CEO Steve Harfst. “The summer vacation season is an opportune time for us to offer such a popular route.”
Virgin Blue, Australia’s second-biggest airline, reported a first-half loss, as expected, as ticket prices fell to 17-year lows and fuel price hedges turned sour.
