British Airways said its passenger volumes fell 8.3 percent in February, led by a 20.2 percent slump in its key premium, or business and first class travelers. In February 2009, passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, was 9.0 percent below February 2008.
Delta AirElite Business Jets has announced the addition of a Citation X, further expanding its charter fleet. The aircraft is the world’s fastest business jet, cruising at speeds up to 600 mph and offering a range of 3,300 miles.
Starting March 6, Caribbean regional airline LIAT will operate three flights per week from Barbados (BGI) to Canouan (CIW). LIAT flight 787 will leave Barbados at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Canouan at 6 p.m. LIAT flight 760 will then leave Canouan at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays arriving in Barbados at 11:40 a.m.
Vueling and Clickair have started cross-selling the two companies’ entire inventory of domestic and international routes. The combined supply will allow customers to access a joint inventory of seats which is twice of each airline’s current one and to choose from a range of 89 routes and 45 destinations.
The government of St. Kitts and Nevis said on Friday that WINAIR, the St Maarten-based airline, will cease scheduled service to St. Kitts later this month.
AeroMexico will add service to the airline’s second Canadian market on April 9 with twice weekly, non-stop flights between Montreal, Quebec, and Mexico City. This new route is being introduced as part of the airline’s strategic expansion of its North American operations.
