The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), has updated its Airline Fuel Cost and Consumption data with preliminary figures for August.

St. Kitts is seeking investors to boost tourism and agriculture and help create new jobs. Agriculture Minister Cedric Liburd says the island recently completed a three-year agrotourism program with nearly $63,000 in funding from the Organization of American States.

Carnival Cruise Lines named Rob Huffman, a 16-year cruise industry veteran, vice president of sales-Southeastern region. In his new role, Mr. Huffman oversees 15 business development managers in nine states.

(ASUR), the first privatized airport group in Mexico and operator of Cancun Airport and eight other airports in southeast Mexico, announced the inauguration of the second runway of Cancun Airport, which doubles the airport’s capacity to approximately 28 million passengers per year.

Southwest Airlines reports a net loss for the third quarter of $16 million, substantially less than the net loss of $120 million it reported for the third quarter of 2008. Excluding one-time items, the company said it earned $23 million, or 3 cents a share, in the period.
