DOT Reports Airline Fuel Costs Up 6.3 Percent in August

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), has updated its Airline Fuel Cost and Consumption data with preliminary figures for August.

It shows that the cost per gallon was $3.54 in August 2008. That fell to $1.90 in July 2009 and then increased to $2.02 in August 2009, a monthly increase of 6.3 percent.
