The Trinidad Hotels Restaurants and Tourism Association (THRTA) named Louanna Chai-Alves executive director effective April 1, 2011. Chai-Alves is a hospitality industry veteran who has worked in management and development at the Holiday Inn and Canadian Lake Express in Toronto, the Grafton Beach Resort in Tobago and the Normandie Hotel and Kapok Hotel in Trinidad.

Carnival Cruise Lines said its Port Canaveral embarkation team has once again earned top honors in the company’s annual guest comment card survey, which ranks embarkation personnel from the lines’ 11 year-round homeports. This marks the sixth time that Carnival’s Port Canaveral team has earned the award in the past 13 years.

Two Israeli tourists were killed and a third seriously injured in a car accident in southern Bolivia’s salt flat, Israel’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. The Bolivian car driver was also killed in the accident. The women involved in the accident were all in their 20s, traveling on a post-army service trip.
