Trinidad Tourism Association Names Chai-Alves Executive Director

The Trinidad Hotels Restaurants and Tourism Association (THRTA) named Louanna Chai-Alves executive director effective April 1, 2011. Chai-Alves is a hospitality industry veteran who has worked in management and development at the Holiday Inn and Canadian Lake Express in Toronto, the Grafton Beach Resort in Tobago and the Normandie Hotel and Kapok Hotel in Trinidad.

She also served as THRTA’s first vice president and member from 1999 to 2002, and as a member of its marketing committee from 2006 to 2008. Chai-Alves majored in hospitality and tourism management and holds a bachelor of commerce degree from Ryerson University in Toronto, as well as a master of business administration degree from the University of the West Indies.
