Insight Cuba will kick off the fall season with the introduction of eight itineraries to Cuba, now that U.S. citizens can legally visit the island nation. More than 40 departures will be offered through the end of 2011.

Funjet Vacations reports that travel agents can now earn five percent commission on American Airlines published airfares and a new limited-time bonus cash offer in conjunction with the new policy. The addition of all destinations, both international and domestic via American Airlines, further expands Funjet’s list of carriers that are eligible for five percent commission on published fares.

Tour operator Austin-Lehman Adventures will launch guided tours in Cuba early 2012. The Billings, Mont.-based company obtained approval from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Control to operate cultural and educational tours in which participants interact with Cuban people.

Turnberry Hotel Group appointed Douglas Hustad as managing director of Turnberry Isle Miami. He will lead all aspects of the 300-acre resort and golf club’s operations. For the past seven years, Hustad was vice president/general manager of The Inn on Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.

Although government was celebrating improvements in stay over tourism this week, the cruise passenger statistics released by the DOT paint a very different picture. Only 77,735 passengers docked at the George Town harbor in July, which is the lowest number of people calling on Grand Cayman since Ivan struck in September 2004.
