Occidental Vacation Club, a division of Occidental Hotels and Resorts (Madrid), is reporting that sales are on the upswing at the all-inclusive group of resorts. The club has resorts located in Aruba, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. There are more than 23,000 members at 11 Occidental Vacation Clubs.

Carvalho’s Travel said it plans to take legal action against the Trinidad & Tobago Port Authority after allegations were made that he owes them up to $1.6 million.

Beaches Turks and Caicos is the latest resort battling an outbreak of gastroenteritis, which causes diarrhea and vomiting. The largest resort on the main tourist island of Providenciales is the second to halt reservations pending a full cleansing to eradicate the unpleasant but basically harmless sickness.

Luis G. Rivera-Marin joined the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) as executive director. Rivera-Marin was named to the post by Puerto Rico Gov. Luis Fortuno and confirmed at public hearings in March. Rivera-Marin assumes the post from the previous executive director, Mario Gonzalez-Lafuente.
