Family of Deceased Fisherman Sues Princess Cruises for Negligence
The family of a Panamanian fisherman who died at sea has sued Princess Cruises for negligence after reports that the Star Princess ignored passengers’ pleas to rescue three distressed fishermen.
The Miami Herald reported that the suit, which was filed in Miami federal court Monday, seeks more than $1 million in damages. The lone survivor, who was rescued after being stranded at sea for 28 days, also filed a suit last month.
In April, The Guardian reported that Miami-based Carnival Corp. & PLC, the parent of Princess Cruises, had launched an investigation into the incident.
