The House of Winds, the home of Dolores Olmedo, friend of the esteemed muralist Diego Rivera, is opening as a cultural center in Acapulco. The mansion overlooks Le Quebrada, the cliff-diving area, will open in September. It houses six of Rivera’s murals.

A $9.3 million refurbishment of Puerto Plata Airport in the Dominican Republic was unveiled recently by Danilo Medina, president of the D.R.

"There has been a major refurbishment and expansion to the airport at a time when we want to support the relaunch Puerto Plata as tourist destination," Medina said in a statement.

Around 40 staff at the Bermuda Government-run Department of Tourism will be displaced as the new independent Tourism Authority gears up to take over. The news was broken to staff in Bermuda yesterday by Mr. Crockwell, who today travelled to New York to deliver the same message to overseas staff.
