Hotel chain RLJ Development trumpeted the buyout of the 426-room Hilton Cancun Beach & Golf Resort for approximately $31.5 million. RLJ president and CEO Robert L. Johnson said to be excited about the addition of this property to the company’s hotel stock made up of a dozen establishments and ten other Hilton assets, and counting.
The company also runs 2,100 small vacationers’ resorts. Its portfolio includes some of the finest and best-known hotel brands such as Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels and Hampton Inn, among other widely known chains around the globe.
Under a campaign slogan reading “Wake Up Your Six Senses. Come To Peru,” the Peruvian government and Spanish group El Corte Ingles are joining hands to step up the now trickling number of Spaniards visiting the South American nation.
The Spanish firm will promote Peru’s tourist destinations that currently receive a meager 0.7 percent of all traveling Spaniards.
