Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is facing criticism from bird lovers over its plans to build a new resort that would destroy the last stronghold of the critically endangered Grenada dove.

Beverly Nicholson Doty, president of the U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association, has been nominated for the post of U.S. Virgin Islands commissioner of tourism by John deJongh, governor of the USVI. Her nomination must be confirmed by the USVI legislature; confirmation hearings are expected to begin shortly.

The very little hope for recovery in New Orleans may have been squashed this weekend when nine people were slain resulting from a surge in killings. Responding to the violence, an official from the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau (NOCVB) has expressed how the city’s hospitality industry has been “extremely saddened by acts of violence.”
