Puerto Costa Maya has reopened to cruise ship visits after being closed since August 2007 due to damage caused by Hurricane Dean. The port reopened with the launch of BioMaya Bacalar, a Mayan-flavored zip-lining adventure that takes guests through the jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Leading Spanish hotel and resort operator Sol Melia opened ME Barcelona today, the fourth hotel of the “experience based” brand of personality hotels, ME.
In its monthly survey, Donald N. Martin & Co. (DMC) reported overall trans-Atlantic traffic continued to surge in July, with the average increase in passengers reported by the top nine carriers up 7.5 percent compared to the average in July 2007. Capacity was up an average 9.9 percent.
American Airlines plans to restore some direct flights between the U.S. Virgin Islands and mainland America later this year. USVI Government officials are happy with the good news since it will boost the territory’s tourism and economy.
