Aeromexico has begun using a mixture of biofuel and fossil jet fuel on flights to Costa Rica this week. It is flying Next Generation Boeing 737s on these “green” flights, or “vuelos verdes.”
British Airways has introduced new services to Antigua and Barbuda while cutting some of their other services to the Caribbean. They blame the expensive air passenger duty for these cutbacks and this is the only place which has gained more flights, in the new flight schedule.
LAN Airlines is discounting roundtrip fares from U.S. gateways New York, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco to popular destinations in South America. Travelers can book their vacation now through Oct. 5 and enjoy deals to several destinations.
Caribbean Airlines reinstated its nonstop, twice-weekly service between Orlando and Kingston, Jamaica. The service had operated for a short time this summer on a seasonal basis.
REDjet, the Barbados-based low-fare carrier, will introduce three new routes in November, bringing to six the number of routes served by the airline.
Two Venezuelan airplanes were forced to make emergency landings just hours apart on Monday, but no passengers or crew were injured in either incident, transportation authorities said. In both incidents the aircraft in use was a DC-9 model, a twin-engine plane which is popular with airlines worldwide for domestic and short-haul routes less than two hours.
