Year-round access to Aruba is becoming easier for UK visitors as of this month, with the introduction of new KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ flights on 30 October 2011. KLM’s service to Aruba will increase from 2 to 5 times per week.

Vision Airlines is adding flights to Orlando/Sanford and Fort Myers/Punta Gorda starting the week of Dec. 19. Champaign, Ill., will offer nonstop flights to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda on Mondays and Fridays. Clarksburg, W.V., will offer nonstop flights to Orlando/Sanford on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Fares on the new routes will start at $99.

Grenada is hoping the December 1 introduction of REDjet flights will help stem a significant falloff in Caribbean visitors. Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Peter David said the country has lost in the region of 20 000 visitors over the past years, though he did not specify the exact period.

Officials from the St. Maarten Island Government and LIAT, THE Caribbean Airline met on Friday 30th September and agreed on a plan of action to promote St. Maarten’s role as a major eastern Caribbean shopping destination.

The region's Transport Ministers are in talks regarding connectivity and integration in air travel across the Caribbean. Minister of Transport and Works, Hon. Michael Henry, said he has had discussions with the Ministers of Transport for Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago and further talks will be held next month.

Vision Airlines is celebrating its new service to Grand Bahama Island with low fares that start at $1 per person out of Fort Lauderdale and $29 from Louisville, Ky.; Richmond, Va.; Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; and Baltimore/Washington. Taxes and fees are extra.
