Guyana’s tourism sector has shown strong growth so far in 2013, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization. The country received 117,517 tourist arrivals from January to August, an increase of 12.4 percent so far this year.

To offer visitors a chance to explore beyond the resort and experience the Jamaican way of life, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) created the Meet the People program, available at no cost to individuals and families. Over 500 Meet the People ambassadors have volunteered a hand of friendship.

Eduardo Santander, Executive Director, European Travel Commission, the tourism body responsible for promoting Europe as a destination, has said that the spotlight will be on developing business with Brazil at the upcoming World Travel Market (WTM) in London next week.
