A delegation from Argentina’s Ministry of Tourism is visiting St Lucia this week. The delegation, which is visiting for the second straight year, is offering training and coursework for individuals in the maritime sector and other niche tourism areas.

The Caribbean is the world’s most tourism-intensive region. It’s also one of the most analyzed: island marketers are awash in statistics for the quantity of visits, attractions and spending in Caribbean countries. But measures comparing the relative quality of the tourism experience from one country to the next are quasi-nonexistent.

With year-to date arrivals figures trending above those recorded in 2013, Jamaica remains on target to again welcome well over two million stopover visitors this year.

A strong summer season boosted tourism numbers for the United States Virgin Islands, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization. After a sluggish winter tourist season, the US territory saw a 7.6 percent increase in the summer months.

The tourism sector’s impressive growth this year, the highest since 2007, results from internal and external factors, said the Dominican Republic Hotels and Tourism Association (Asonahores) vice president Arturo Villanueva affirmed Friday.

Changes in the visa policy for Chinese tourists in the U.S. will boost inbound travel from China, according to the National Tour Association (NTA), which has been working with the U.S. Department of Commerce since 2007 to help facilitate travel from China to the U.S. by providing and vetting reliable operators to take care of Chinese travelers while in the U.S.
