The new version of Amadeus e-Travel Management’s corporate self-booking tool includes new airline content and eases the process of exchanging unused air tickets. Amadeus believes the unused ticket trader feature brings substantial cost savings and efficiency for corporations and travel management companies in the U.S. The addition of content from two major Brazilian carriers, GOL and TAM, is key for corporate travel in Brazil.
Commencing summer 2009, Lufthansa will offer UK passengers flying from London a new, non-stop service to Milan Malpensa. At the same time, new nonstop flights will be introduced from Lisbon to Milan, with both new services following on from the earlier introduction in February 2009 of the first nonstop flights to operate from Barcelona, Brussels, Budapest, Bucharest and Paris to Milan.

The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau’s Annual Membership meeting recently concluded in San Juan and with it came news of yet another successful year for the destination. During the 2007-2008 fiscal year, the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau (PRCB) confirmed a total of 461 definite group bookings for a total of 236,017 overall room nights, an increase of 20 percent over last year.
Midwest Airlines, which cut nearly 1,200 jobs in July, will lay off another 186 employees, including 72 pilots, 82 flight attendants and 31 non-union employees, working in the airport and at the airline’s hangar facility.
UAL, parent of United Airlines, has demanded a retraction from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel after the newspaper’s website published a link to a six-year-old article on UAL Corp’s bankruptcy in 2002, Reuters reports. Tribune Co, which owns the Sun-Sentinel, said other news organizations mistakenly presented the article as new. UAL shares fell 76 percent to $3 after the article was posted on the Bloomberg financial news service.
