AMR Corporation, parent of American Airlines, reported a net loss of $505 million for the first quarter of 2010. This includes the impact of a $53 million special item related to the devaluation of the Venezuelan currency in January. Excluding that special item, AMR lost $452 million in the first quarter.

Virgin America reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year for 2009. For the full year, Virgin America reported a $48 million operating loss on revenues of $548 million -- a $140 million (or 74 percent) year-over-year improvement over 2008.

A new Metropolitan Tourist Police force was launched in the 70-mile corridor of northern Baja California, from Tijuana to Ensenada. The main responsibility of the force is to patrol the region and work with and aid tourists.
