U.S. Coast Guard Key West Sector Captain Pat DeQuattro confirmed Wednesday morning that tests on tar balls found Monday and Tuesday on Key West's Fort Zachary Taylor State Park beach and other areas of the Lower Keys are not from the Transocean/BP oil spill in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Rep. James L. Oberstar, a Democrat from Minnesota and chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, announced his opposition to the proposed merger between United Airlines and Continental Airlines. Oberstar also released copies of a letter he sent to the Department of Justice (DOJ) asking it to reject the merger plan on antitrust grounds.

TAM has named three new vice presidents. Ricardo Froes comes to the company as the new vice president of finance, management and IT, reporting to the president, Libano Barroso, who has been fulfilling this role on an interim basis since he assumed the presidency in October 2009.
