Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar arrived in Guyana less than 24 hours after a plane from her country's national carrier, Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL), ran off the runway at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) in Guyana and snapped in two with some 157 persons on board.

Courts in Antigua have found two men guilty of murdering honeymooning couple Ben and Catherine Mullany. The couple – who had been married just a few weeks ago– was murdered on the Caribbean island on July 27, 2007, prompting international outrage.
 

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL) reported second quarter net income for 2011 was $93.5 million versus $53.7 million in 2010. Revenues improved to $1.8 billion in the second quarter of 2011 compared to $1.6 billion in the second quarter of 2010 as a result of capacity increases and yield improvements.
