Jamaica has again been recognized as the choice Caribbean destination for the 13th consecutive year. The destination reaffirmed its position as the top selling Caribbean destination voted by travel agents in Recommend magazine’s 16th Annual Reader’s Choice Award. Recommend surveyed 1,500 readers for the awards, which will be highlighted editorially in the December 2012, Recommend Readers’ Choice Awards Issue.
Lonely Planet, the leading travel publisher, has named Dominican Republic as one of its Top 10 Countries for 2013 in its annually published Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2013. Lonely Planet draws upon the input of its staff, authors and online community for recommendations.
Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque Wednesday said that the regional grouping remains committed to providing support “where necessary” to Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba following the passage of Hurricane Sandy late last month. The hurricane caused nearly 100 deaths in the Caribbean.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global traffic results for September showing a continued slowdown in the rate of traffic growth. Demand for passenger traffic was 4.1 percent above the level of September 2011.
