Former Tourism Minister, Hon. Glynis Roberts, has commended Sir Royston Hopkin and Spice Island Beach Resort on winning another award of excellence.

“Sir Royston remains an asset to the country, in general, and the tourism and hotel industry, in particular,’’ said Roberts. “Spice Island Beach Resort, too, is an industry flagship that continues to make the nation proud.’’

Roberts’ comments follow the announcement that for another year, Spice Island Resort had been rated the number one property in Virgin Holidays exclusive worldwide Platinum Collection.

Receipt of awards is not new to Spice Island Resort and its owner and managing director, Sir Royston.

The resort, for example, has received the Green Globe Certification for implementing eco-friendly measures at Spice Island Beach, including the use of solar rooftop heaters for all hot water needs.

As a hotelier, Sir Royston is the recipient of several prestigious awards. They include the coveted Caribbean Hotel Association’s “Hotelier of the Year” award; Grenada’s Silver Anniversary Independence Awards for 25 years of dedicated service; and a Caribbean Tourism Organization Lifetime Achievement Award.
