Five people have been convicted of manslaughter in a court in Italy following the sinking of the Costa Concordia last year. The vessel sank off the island of Giglio in January 2012 with the loss of 32 lives.

If everything goes according to plan, Barbados stands to benefit from increased airlift out of Germany, following successful talks with minister of tourism and international transport, Richard Sealy, and the second largest tour operator in Germany, Der Touristic.

Nicaragua is one of the safest countries in Central America, but in the case that something happens while a tourist is visiting the destination, there is immediate help available. The Nicaraguan Tourism Board has launched a free emergency number to provide assistance to all tourists visiting Nicaragua. Tourists can dial “101” if they need immediate attention because of an accident, loss of travel documents, or any other situation.

US Airways announced the appointment of Christine Kelly Singley to managing director, corporate communications. In her new role, Singley will aid the communications department as the airline prepares to close its merger with American Airlines later this fall.  She will play a key role in combining the US Airways and American Airlines communications departments to support the new airline.
