The Dominican Republic’s Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores) announced his new president, Simon Suarez, who will be officially presented on Sep. 3 in a ceremony at the Embassy Suites in Santo Domingo.

He wasn’t a Santiago-born man –he was born in Havana on December 25, 1725- but he got his reputation as a musician and composer in Santiago de Cuba, where he unleashed his creative talent and died on July 14, 1803.

Costa Rica’s Immigration Administration will begin enforcing a fine at its borders Monday for travelers whose temporary residency visas have expired. The $100 per-month fine will only affect people with expired residency visas or temporary work permits.
