Bermuda saw a 2.4 percent drop in tourist arrivals in the first half of 2014, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization. The island received 103,787 visitors in the first six months of 2014.

International tourist arrivals grew by 4.6 percent in the first half of 2014 according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Destinations worldwide received some 517 million international tourists between January and June 2014.

Construction on the first phase of the airport is set to begin in May 2015, Cayman Islands Director of Tourism Rosa Harris announced ahead of the CTO State of the Industry Conference in St Thomas.

 

Cuban biologist Freddy Rodriguez regarded here the new bird labeling system -with components having a Cuban brand- as a novelty in this kind of task in the island. Rodriguez, an expert who was four years ago a founder of the Johan Cristoph Gundiach Station, a Cuban entity that develops this scientific work permanently, told Prensa Latina that with this technique, the national data base on birds can be noticeably improved.

ATP Director of Tourism Investments, Nadgee Bonilla, warned that "strong measures will be taken" as established by Law 80 enacted on November 8, 2012, whose 21st article "prohibits the renting in buildings or residences without the tourism lodging permit issued at Panama District for 45 days or less. This activity shall be related to apartment hotels, hotels, hostels, motels and guesthouses”.
