An international treaty is needed to regulate the search for new products from species living on the ocean floor, a UN study has warned.
Unfettered commercial exploitation of such species poses risks to unique deep-sea ecosystems, the UN University´s Institute for Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) and UNESCO said in a joint report.
Bahamas Tourism Appoints Vernice Walkine to Replace CTO´s Secretary-General-elect Vincent Vanderpool
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism moved quickly to fill the position of deputy general vacated by Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, who was recently handpicked to head the Caribbean Tourism Organization as its new secretary-general.
Vernice Walkine, formerly deputy director-general of the Ministry, was named by tourism minister Obie Wilchcombe to succeed Vanderpool Wallace.
