Anguilla´s Ministry of Infrastructure and the Taxi Association set a new rate structure for taxi fares. Anguilla is now divided into 10 zones, and additional charges apply when entering a new zone.

The British travel industry is to unify the system of star ratings for accommodation under a new scheme agreed by tourist boards and motoring organizations. The move aims to ensure that hotel grading from one-star to five-star mean the same thing throughout Great Britain, no matter which organization´s inspectors carry out the assessment.

Indonesia hopes to attract 150,000 Chinese tourists in 2006. In 2005, the number of tourist visits projected to reach 100,000-mark. “We have the target, next year 150,000 Chinese will make their trip to Indonesia,” the director for Overseas Promotion at the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Tatang Rukhyat said, according to Antara News. Tatang said, the number is a realistic target as the two nations have emotional link with many Indonesians having relatives in China.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is announcing several appointments within its Passenger Business organization, to be implemented beginning January 1. Simone Wickenhagen, currently vice president of Marketing & Brand, has been appointed General Manager for KLM Northern Europe, stationed in Stockholm. Ms. Wickenhagen joined KLM in 1966 and has held commercial posts in South Africa, Argentina, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, and elsewhere.

In an innovative way of selling airline tickets, Brazil´s low-cost airline GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes has launched the Voe Facil (Fly Easy) GOL Program, which allows customers to pay for airline tickets in up to 36 monthly installments. “GOL maintains its commitment to popularizing air transportation by offering the lowest fares and the most convenient payment mechanisms in the market,” said Tarcisio Gargioni, vice president of marketing and services of GOL.

British Airways has revealed plans to axe almost 600 management jobs in a move that will save the carrier £50 million. Chief executive Willie Walsh said 35% of the airline´s 1,715 managers –many of whom he described as "extremely talented"- will go by March 2008.
