Worldspan and Mexicana Airlines inked a new multi-year, global agreement whereby the international carrier will distribute its published schedules and fares, including Web fares and last-minute seat availability, to Worldspan retail, corporate and online agency subscribers. The new content agreement builds on the Worldspan-Mexicana technology relationship.

Health officials in the Bahamas have confirmed that there is no longer a threat of malaria to travelers visiting Great Exuma in the Out Islands, following an incubation period of 45 days with no new cases identified. At this time, officials feel there is no longer a need for special precautions when visiting Great Exuma.

Air travelers already coping with long delays at London airports because of increased security could soon face further inconvenience from strikes by pilots and airport train workers. The 46 drivers on the Gatwick Express connecting the airport to central London plan a series of one-day strikes on August 29 and September 11, 22 and 25 to protest a pay offer from their employers.

Americans traveling for leisure nearly every other month and will continue to take as many or more trips in the next 12 months, would travel even more frequently if gas was less expensive, a survey revealed recently. San Francisco-based marketing and research firm, Destination Analysts, released the findings from its “The State of the American Traveler” study, which surveyed 1,044 adult Americans who have taken at least one trip for leisure or personal reasons in the past year.

St Lucia´s former Permanent Secretary Maria C. Fowell was appointed St. Lucia´s Director of Tourism. Ms. Fowell replaces Peter Hilary Modeste who served as Director of Tourism for nine years.
