The Caribbean´s first AAA Five Diamond property is putting a fresh face on a landmark resort. Four Seasons Resort Nevis will launch a $10 million renovation program in late August that will include a new pool and waterfront dining venue, as well as refurbishments to its two luxury suites and nearly half of its guest rooms. The new developments are slated for completion by the end of the year.

Spain-based hotel chain Sol Meliá is keeping the U.S. market well locked on in its crosshairs. Senior officials from the company revealed this week plans to count on up to ten more establishments in America by the year 2010. "This is part of our strategic plan, to open ten more lodgings in the U.S. over the next five years," said Andre P. Gorondeau, general manager of Sol Meliá North America. "The Meliá Royal Palm in Miami will soon join the Hard Rock Chicago Hotel, the Paradisus Puerto Rico and the Paramount Hotel in New York City."
With an eye aimed squarely at the teen market (ages 14 to 17), Club Med debuted The Ramp at the Club Med Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The Ramp also will be rolled out at Club Med´s family properties in Ixtapa, Mexico, and Sandpiper, Florida, by the end of the year. John Vanderslice, Club Med Americas president and CEO, said "the teen market is one of the hardest to wow and, especially on vacation."
