Construction on the $37-million Erato Street Cruise Terminal should be completed by September 15, according to Port of New Orleans president and CEO Gary LaGrange. Hurricane Katrina disrupted the cruise industry in New Orleans but it´s regaining its bearings.
EasyCruise will launch a second vessel this summer, when the EasyCruiseTwo begins weekly river and canal itineraries in Holland and Belgium July 14. The 240-foot-long ship will carry 100 passengers and will be operated by a franchisee. Formerly the Frontera, the riverboat is owned and operated by Boonstra River Line and will be renovated and restructured to EasyCruise standards.
Carnival Cruise Lines´ Carnival Liberty will be deployed year-round from Port Everglades on six-day and eight-day Caribbean cruises beginning in November this year. Carnival Liberty, which currently operates seasonal six-day and eight-day voyages from Fort Lauderdale and 12-day European cruises from Rome, launches year-round service from Fort Lauderdale on November 19, following a 16-day transatlantic voyage.

The unspoiled beaches and historic attractions of Grand Turk will be one of the highlights of Crown Princess´ new Eastern Caribbean itinerary when the ship debuts in June. In addition to a brand new welcome center designed with activities for cruise passengers, the island will also feature 20 new shore excursions to take advantage of the local offerings, from renowned diving sites to historic attractions.
Royal Caribbean announced the name of the cruise line´s second Freedom class ship. The Liberty of the Seas reflects the same freedom of choice and experiences as does her similarly- titled sister ship, Freedom of the Seas, which enters service in June. With Liberty´s debut in May 2007 as well as exciting new itineraries, new departure cities and exotic ports of call on the horizon, Royal Caribbean is setting a bold precedent for the 2007-2008 season.
