From November 2007 through April 2008, Europe’s Number One Cruise Line will sail in celebration throughout the Caribbean as 2008 marks 60 years of cruising for the Italian cruise company.

NCL Corp. has ordered two 150,000-ton, 4,200-passenger cruise ships, with an option for a third, from Aker Yards SA, the cruise line said last week.
The $2.8-billion contract is dependent on financing and approval from shareholders at parent company Star Cruises. The first two vessels would cost $941.5 million and the third, $896.7 million. The price tag renders in about $224,000 per passenger berth for the first two ships.
MSC Cruises celebrated three events in one day on Sept. 9 at Aker Yards´ St Nazaire, France, shipyard: the floating out of the Orchestra, the cutting of the first steel for the Fantasia, and a viewing of the first panel laid for the construction of the Poesia.
MSC has three ships under construction with Aker Yards with the Orchestra scheduled for delivery in spring 2007 and the Poesia and Fantasia both slated to enter service in 2008. Construction on post-panamax, sister ship to the Fantasia, the Sereneta, is expected to begin in 2007.

Certifications have been issued to the company´s operating units by four different internationally recognized maritime regulatory agencies in recognition of Carnival´s commitment to systematic management of its processes, products and services to minimize environmental impact.
