US Airways added on June 7 an additional nonstop weekly flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, on Tuesdays. This new service will continue until August 16, 2005. The new nonstop flight has been added in response to a growing demand for travel to St. Croix from the Southeast and other U.S. markets. This new service complements US Airways´ existing Saturday nonstop flight from Charlotte to St. Croix, and the airline´s numerous flights to St. Croix that connect in San Juan with Caribbean Sun Airlines.

Spanish airline company Air Europa announced it will launch direct passenger flights from Madrid to China´s Beijing and Shanghai beginning on July 4. The flights will leave Madrid for Beijing on Monday and return to Madrid on Wednesday. On the other route, the jetliner will leave Madrid on Friday, heading for Shanghai via Barcelona, Spain´s second-largest city. Last week, Spain´s Air Europa launched its nonstop flights between Madrid and Beijing and Shanghai, which are the first direct flights between the two countries after China´s Eastern Airlines suspended its China-Spain flight.

South America could follow Asia as the next big area of low-cost airline expansion. Budget flights from Brazil to Uruguay and Paraguay look likely to take off soon. GOL, the low-fares carrier whose main bases are at Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, has been granted permission by the Brazilian authorities to launch services to the capitals of both countries, Montevideo and Asunción, respectively.

Air Jamaica has added to its long list of awards by achieving the top spot among Caribbean and Latin American carriers for in-flight food and beverage service, as voted on by visitors to www.airlinemeals.net, the world´s first and leading site about airline food. Air Jamaica´s cuisine earned a 7.85 average rating, outpacing LanChile (7.18), Varig (6.71), Mexicana (6.63) and TACA (5.30) among regional carriers receiving a minimum of 10 customer critiques.

Beginning on June 4, weekend getaways to Jamaica from Cincinnati will be easier than ever with the launch of a new Delta service to Montego Bay. The scheduled Saturday and Sunday service, will be Delta´s second route to Jamaica, in addition to the Atlanta gateway. Increased capacity will be available from Atlanta as Delta moves from a B737 to a B767 aircraft, providing an additional 102 seats daily as of June 1.

Frontier Airlines reported a net loss of $23.4 million, or $0.66 per diluted common share, for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2005. This compares to net income of $12.6 million, or $0.36 per diluted common share for the previous fiscal year. For the airline´s fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31, 2005, the airline reported a net loss of $3.7 million, or $0.10 per diluted common share, compared to a net loss of $5.8 million, or $0.16 per diluted common share, for the same period last year.
