Brazil´s GOL Adds New Cheap Regional Flights
South America could follow Asia as the next big area of low-cost airline expansion. Budget flights from Brazil to Uruguay and Paraguay look likely to take off soon.
GOL, the low-fares carrier whose main bases are at Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, has been granted permission by the Brazilian authorities to launch services to the capitals of both countries, Montevideo and Asunción, respectively.
GOL hopes to start operating the routes this year. In December 2004, the carrier began flying to Argentina´s Buenos Aires, its first international destination.
