Air Jamaica has resumed direct flights between New York and St. Lucia, after a one-year suspension. The three flights a week should boost arrivals from North America, St. Lucia´s biggest tourism market, Tourism Minister Philip Pierre said after arriving on the inaugural flight.

American Eagle will add nonstop weekend jet service between Chicago O´Hare International Airport and Freeport, Bahamas, beginning May 6. The new service will be offered each Saturday and Sunday through Sept. 3, using 70-seat Canadair CRJ-700 jets. This new service is in addition to American Eagle´s daily nonstop jet service between O´Hare and Nassau, which began last June.

Delta Air Lines will expand to three the number of non-stop destinations served on one of the Caribbean´s most enchanting islands with the addition of service to Aguadilla and Ponce, Puerto Rico, effective June 1. Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines will operate the new service between Atlanta and Aguadilla four-times weekly and between Atlanta and Ponce twice-weekly, supplementing Delta´s extensive schedule of flights offered daily between San Juan and Atlanta, New York-JFK and Orlando.

According to media reports, Ryan will make the investment through his family´s investment firm, Ireland Investments Ltd. Inversionistas en Autotransportes Mexicanos SA, a Mexican bus company, is Ryan´s local partner. “Ryan joins Mexican billionaires Carlos Slim and Emilio Azcárraga in seeking to profit from a market that may double to 40 million passengers in as few as three years, according to the Mexican government. Slim and Azcarraga are backing a budget airline set to begin flying March 1.

Lufthansa is further extending its position in the growth market of Asia as of the summer timetable 2006. With three additional connections to Shanghai from Frankfurt and two additional flights to Hong Kong and four to Beijing from Munich, the number of non-stop services offered by the German carrier is growing to a total of 52 weekly flights to China. The Asia program will be rounded off by the inclusion of four additional connections per week from Frankfurt to Hyderabad.
