Worldspan and Delta Air Lines, Inc. have completed a new long-term distribution agreement, affirming Worldspan’s Super Access Product as a preferred distribution program for the airline through June 2013. The agreement provides for the distribution of Delta’s products and services, including fares and inventory from the Delta Shuttle and Delta Connection brands, through the Worldspan global distribution system (GDS).
JetBlue Airways is expanding its Caribbean network with daily nonstop service between Boston’s Logan International Airport and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective December 13. Flights to San Juan, the low-fare carrier’s 22nd destination served nonstop from Boston, will operate for the peak winter season through April 30, 2007.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the Dutch arm of Air France KLM, said on Wednesday it would cut down on its fuel surcharge as a result of falling oil prices. The surcharge would fall by €5 on all intercontinental flights and by €1 on all intra-European flights on tickets issued from September 28.
Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson proposed last week changes to aircraft movements at busy airports and the way planes land under a plan he said would cut the world’s aviation emissions by up to 25 percent. Mr. Branson, who last week committed to spending all the profits from his airline and rail businesses to combat global warming, is lobbying airlines and airports to weigh his proposal to slash emissions.
GOL, Brazil’s no-frills air company, got the operative and technical authorization to officially begin flying to Chile in an effort to further. The airline met all of the technical requirements that the country asks for, the company’s front office informed in a press release.
Austral of Argentina and LAN Peru obtained permission from the government of Bolivia to fly to this country and make up for the deficit of the service with these destinations due to the serious crisis LAB is going through since the beginning of this year. The general director of the Civil Aeronautics was quoted as saying in the local press that the date that these two companies will operate has not yet been established.
