KLM to Slash Fuel Surcharge

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the Dutch arm of Air France KLM, said on Wednesday it would cut down on its fuel surcharge as a result of falling oil prices.

The surcharge would fall by €5 on all intercontinental flights and by €1 on all intra-European flights on tickets issued from September 28.

Oil prices firmed above $61 a barrel on Wednesday, but have tumbled from a peak of more than $78 a barrel in July.

Lufthansa said it had no immediate plans to follow suit. “At the moment there is no plan to lower the fuel surcharges. We are continually observing the market,” a spokesman from the German air company said.
