Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. reported a net profit of $1.1 million for the month of May and its seventh consecutive monthly operating profit. The results were filed in the company’s unaudited Monthly Operating Report for May 2009.

Air Jamaica has moved one step closer to becoming a privately-owned carrier. Privatization committee members have recommended a candidate to Jamaica’s government and the Air Jamaica board of directors.

Maya Island Air announced the July 8 launching of Maya Island Air Regional, which links Belize, Cancun, Guatemala City and San Pedro Sula. Maya Island Air is a Belizean airline, which has been servicing 10 destinations in Belize for the last 49 years using a fleet of Norman Islanders, Cessna Caravans, 182s and Air Vans.

American Airlines and Delta Air Lines will increase non-stop service to St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport and St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King Airport. This week, American Airlines shared plans to increase service to St. Croix, which will provide 10 flights departing weekly from Miami (up from seven flights weekly). Earlier this month, Delta Air Lines also announced an increase in service from two flights per week to daily service to St. Croix from Atlanta to commence on Dec. 19.
