Continental Airlines and United Airlines will boost flights between the U.S. and Mexico where the carriers provide the leading network among U.S. airlines. The service changes are consistent with the airlines’ previously announced capacity guidance. Continental Airlines will launch daily nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Leon/Guanajuato, Mexico (BJX), subject to Mexican government approval, beginning Nov. 1. The daily service will be operated with a Boeing 737-500 aircraft, with seating for 114 customers (eight in first class and 106 in economy).
REDjet, the Caribbean’s first low fare airline, was formally launched in Barbados over the weekend and promises to build “air bridges” throughout the region by offering consumers rock-bottom prices.
Over the last few months Guyana has been among several CARICOM states which have been discussing proposals with REDjet officials, Ian Burns, Chairman of parent company, Airone said.

Virgin America is celebrating its new service to Orlando International Airport with a red carpet welcome for guests on the celebratory flight arriving Wednesday, Oct. 13. Upon touchdown of Virgin America’s new Airbus A320 aircraft arriving from LAX, flight guests will receive an “O-Town” welcome with a Virgin twist -- a champagne reception at the arrival gate at MCO. Virgin America CEO David Cush and commercial guests from the flight will be greeted upon arrival by local officials, MCO leadership and Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson.
The Division of Tourism and Transportation for Tobago announced Caribbean Airlines will launch a new flight between New York’s JFK International Airport and Tobago’s Crown Point International Airport, beginning December 12.
British Airways is to increase the number of flights to the Caribbean starting from March 27, due to the success of its long-haul leisure routes departing from London Gatwick. The airline continues to show its commitment to the Caribbean with a total of 15 destinations to choose from.
