Puerto Rico will be working with more UK tour operators when British Airways returns to the Caribbean island next year. BA is to launch twice-weekly flights from March and Puerto Rico Tourism Company sales director Marimar Lidin said talks were under way with Abercrombie & Kent and Kuoni to feature the country.
British Airways flights to Mexico’s most important tourist destination, Cancun, took off for the first time at the start of November. Customers checking in for the inaugural flight were given a taste of Mexico with a Mariachi band to send them on their way.
American Airlines will begin new nonstop flight between Barbados and Dallas/Fort Worth beginning Dec. 16. Introductory rates start at $149 each way based on roundtrip travel. Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Barbados operate every Monday, Thursday and Saturday with returning flights every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight will operate aboard Boeing 757 aircraft with 22 seats in Business Class and 166 seats in the Coach cabin.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is planning to debut four-times-a-week round-trip service between Miami International Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport starting at the beginning of the summer schedule on March 27, 2011. This re-launches KLM’s nonstop service to Miami that was suspended in September 2004. KLM will operate this service using MD-11 equipment. With Miami, KLM is adding another destination to the joint venture between Air France, KLM, Delta Air Lines and Alitalia.
JetBlue Airways is now offering seven daily nonstop flights to Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) and one daily nonstop flight each to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) from Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA).
American Airlines has a new nonstop service from DFW to Barbados. Commencing December 16th 2010, the service will run three times per week on Saturday, Monday and Thursday.
