The International Air Transport Association (IATA) urged governments and other stakeholders in Latin America to unite to give aviation the freedom to succeed by improving aviation safety, making badly needed investments in infrastructure and reducing the heavy tax burden on the industry.
Airberlin, Germany’s second-largest airline, is now part of oneworld. Austria’s NIKI, also a member of the airberlin group, joined oneworld as an affiliate member at the same time. Both airlines are immediately offering oneworld’s services and benefits.
Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for U.S. airlines, filed an initial legal complaint to reject the German Air Transport Tax, which taxes U.S. airlines the maximum amount of 45 euros ($59) per passenger.
JetBlue Airways has reached an agreement with the Puerto Rico Ports Authority to move its operation in San Juan's Luis Munoz Marin International Airport to Terminal A from Terminal C. The move is scheduled for the end of May.
Delta Air Lines unveiled a series of onboard service enhancements as part of its continued growth strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean. Delta also announced increased flight frequencies between three Caribbean destinations and New York-JFK.
