Visitors to Jamaica from the United States, Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Europe and emerging markets like Russia and the Czech Republic, will now be able to experience direct service to enjoy the island’s diverse culture and natural beauty.

Transat A.T. Inc., one of the largest integrated tourism companies in the world and Canada's holiday travel leader, will offer vacation packages to Haiti out of Montreal, beginning January 23, 2013. The new products will be sold under the Transat Holidays brand.

Air Europe, of the group Globalia, and the Dominican government agreed to double the connections to Dominican Republic’s airports starting April 1, when Iberia will stop flying to the Caribbean country, EFE reports from Madrid.

LIAT Chairman Dr. Jean Holder has slammed critics, including regional governments, he accused of double standards when it comes to paying subsidies to airlines. Dr. Holder said, “I remember when countries in this region were paying American Airlines about US $1 million a year to fly into these countries."

Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, Dr. Wykeham McNeill, has announced that an agreement to introduce direct flights from Russia to Jamaica has been finalized. Dr. McNeil said Russian airline Transaero will begin nonstop service from Moscow to Montego Bay as of January 1, 2013.
