Expecting low occupancy this fall, the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau laid off 80 employees until at least December. Sandals spokesman Stephen Hector said the company would review the situation in November to determine if the employees can return to work or if the layoff period must be extended.

Holland America Line’s Zaandam is set to discover the Hawaiian Island chain in 2010 with Circle Hawaii itineraries that offer guests relaxing days at sea and islands to explore. The 1,432-passenger ship will sail five 14-day roundtrip San Diego, Calif., cruises and one 15-day voyage from Vancouver, British Colombia, to San Diego.

Continental Airlines announced its results for August, reporting that traffic decreased 3.9 percent and capacity decreased 6 percent as compared to August 2008. For August 2009, consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) is estimated to have decreased between 16.5 and 17.5 percent compared to August 2008, while mainline RASM is estimated to have decreased between 17 and 18 percent.
