The issues of visa restrictions and lack of direct air services are among the obstacles the Chinese say are hindering Jamaica from gaining a foothold in its emerging tourist market. Over the last decade, 11,104 visitors came from the Republic of China to Jamaica.

Boeing has begun replacing batteries on its fleet of grounded 787 Dreamliners following approval of the modified design from the Federal Aviation Authority. All 50 aircraft presently in service around the world have been grounded since earlier this year following a series of onboard incidents.
