The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) turned down requests from two Caribbean airlines to offer nonstop service between New York and Georgetown, Guyana. DOT said Caribbean Airlines and Fly Jamaica "had not provided compelling evidence" that the flights would be in the public interest, according to an order signed by Paul Gretch, director of DOT's Office of International Aviation.
